Getting up to speed on the tools required to work in aresearch team can be tricky, so the University Library is hosting a Software Carpentry Event in a two-day workshop on July 11-12 in the Poutama room on the third floor of Puaka James Hight Library.
We’ll be covering the basics of :
- The Unix Shell

A Software Carpentry workshop is hands-on two-day event that covers the core skills needed to be productive in a small research team. Short tutorials alternate with practical exercises, and all instruction is done via live coding. All workshop participants are required to abide by our code of conduct to ensure that all attendees to have an enjoyable and fulfilling experience.
You will need to bring your own computer, and this workshop will cover the beginnings of the Unix Shell, R, and Git to get you productive and working.
